Lester Halvorson, age 93 of Dunseith, passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at a Bottineau hospital.  His funeral will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the Peace Lutheran Church in Dunseith.  Visitation will begin one hour prior to service time at the church.

Lester M Halvorson, son of Henry and Ida (Larson) Halvorson was born January 27, 1931, in Bottineau ND. He was raised in the Turtle Mountains northwest of Dunseith on the family farm, along with his eight brothers and sisters. Lester attended school in Willow Lake School and in Dunseith. At the age of 17 he left the farm to work for the Boeing company in Renton Washington where he worked as a "Bucket" which meant he held the bar for the Riveter on the wing. He worked there for about a year before returning to take over the family farm. In August of 1953 he married Dorothy Christianson, and they raised 5 children.

Lester enjoyed farming and raising cattle and was always willing to help out a neighbor. He was especially fond of making hay, working alongside Dorothy to have a successful farm. He also enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. His love of music and faith were important to him throughout his life. He loved to go dancing with Dorothy and celebrate life.

Lester is survived by his children Gail (Larry) Schuler, Lynn (Greg) Otto, Donna (Kurt) Krim and Michael Halvorson; 9 grandchildren, Aaron (Rachel) Schuler, Erika (Nik) Hobbs, Kate Reed, Mark (Karmen) Otto, Nick Otto, Nate Otto, Emilie (Dalton) Cote, Jacob Halvorson, and Alexa (Shawn) Halvorson, 12 great grandchildren, a brother-in-law Floyd Dion and special friend Arlene Knutson.

Lester was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, wife Dorothy and daughter Lori Halvorson.
