Visitation will be on Monday from 1:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.  The family requests that everyone in attendance wear a mask and practice social distancing.

Larry was born on June 16, 1957 to Arlan and Geneveive Monson in Bottineau, ND. He was the 4th of 14 children.

Larry graduated in 1975 and married the love of his life, Patty (Marks) on September 15, 1979. Together they would raise a family that would bring Larry the greatest joy any man could dream of…sharing his heart with his children and grandchildren.

Larry operated heavy machinery for numerous road construction companies such as Orrin Holen Construction INC and Anderson Earth Movers. He assisted with many projects, building roads that are still utilized today throughout the state. Larry later worked for Cardinal Drilling then was self-employed. He owned and operated Monson Roll-off services. This career would give him the opportunity to pursue another one of his greatest passions…to meet and socialize with everyone!

Larry followed in his father's footsteps with his loyalty to CAT, the endless hours that he would spend tinkering on a CAT bulldozer, his love for livestock and his soft spot for all animals. He would socialize with everyone and enjoyed bringing donuts to his grandkids and of course all the daycare kids which he treated like his own family.

As one of the older kids in the family, he was more of a "foreman." He liked to come up with great ideas but he liked the younger ones to do the work and the follow through. He did check in to see how things were coming along and give suggestions. As Damian, Sheldon and Kyleigh got older, he became their "foreman" as well. But Patty executed the master plans he had envisioned over the many years of their marriage, and there were a lot.

These are the things you might know about Larry…"he had a nickname for most everyone", "he loved Wrestle Mania and he liked to be home by 7:00 to watch it with his boys", "he loved to socialize at Walmart, including the parking lot", "he liked to start off with…Now let me tell you something…", "he made friends with everyone", "he was like a turtle (hard on the outside/soft on the inside)" "He made many daily stops…Cenex, Conoco, Klingbeil's Body Shop, Ketterling's Junkyard, etc. to catch up on the daily news" "He had a great big heart, he would have Patty pack an extra lunch so he could drop it off to a friend, or start a little fundraiser" "He was one of the daycare kids!"

Larry passed on his love for CAT to Damian. He was his Dad's right-hand man. Kyleigh is an RN but to Larry she was his PN (Private Nurse.) Sheldon inherited his Dad's love for collecting, especially backyard treasures, but his greatest gift was that he made Larry a Grandpa for the first time. David and Larry spent many hours together cleaning the corrals in the spring to working with the cattle. But their greatest bond was sharing their love for the family.

Larry will be deeply missed by everyone as he has touched so many lives and will live on in the lives of so many.
