Kenn Torgerson, age 68 of Bottineau, died Sunday at a Minot nursing home. His funeral will be held on Thursday at 10:00 am at the Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Bottineau. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1:00 pm until 9:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau. Burial will be at the Oak Creek Cemetery in Bottineau.
Kenn Torgerson, a son of Knute and Berneice (Berg) Torgerson, was born on December 29, 1948 at Bottineau. He was raised there and graduated from Bottineau High School. After graduation, Kenn entered the US Army and served in the Vietnam War where he was awarded the Silver Star. After his honorable discharge in 1971, he returned to Bottineau. On April 15, 1972, he married Betty Wilhelm. They made their home in Bottineau. Through the years, Kenn worked at Ace Hardware, Newberger's Lumber, Dan's Super Valu and the Bottineau Public Schools.
Kenn was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bottineau where he was baptized. He was also involved in the Baptist Youth Fellowship as a teenager. He enjoyed playing cards with his family, particularly rummy. He also enjoyed playing cribbage and pinochle. Ken loved deer hunting, fishing, gardening and tinkering in his shop where he spent much of his time.
Kenn passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at a Minot nursing home.
He is survived by his wife, Betty of Bottineau; brothers, Keith (Linda) Torgerson of Bottineau, James (Mary) Grosgebauer of Bottineau and Everett (Sheila) Grosgebauer of Fessenden, ND; nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kyle and sister, Karen.
Arrangements were with Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau. Friends may sign the online register book at www.nerofuneralhome.net.
