Obituary

Karen Lee (Demery) Davis (formerly Gagnon), age 64 of Belcourt, North Dakota died Monday, March 26, 2018 at Trinity Hospital in Minot, North Dakota. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Michael's Archangel Catholic Church in Dunseith, North Dakota. The Wake will be held on Monday, April 2, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. with the service at 7:00 p.m. at the St. Michael's Archangel Catholic Church in Dunseith, North Dakota.

Karen Lee (Demery) Davis (formerly Gagnon), daughter of Eli J. and Mary V. (Peltier) Demery was raised in Dunseith, ND. On February 19, 1971, she married John Gagnon, was blessed with 7 beautiful children, and spent her time between North Dakota and Alaska .  In 1986 John and Karen's union ended. On October 8, 1988, Karen was again blessed with a child.  On May 6, 2005, she married Francis J. Davis.  Karen and Francis enjoyed life together, raising Karen's 8th child and traveling until his passing.

Karen was a loving grandmother and enjoyed spending time cooking, baking and gathering with friends and family .  She loved to dance, ride horse, attend Pow Wow's, and laugh. She enjoyed listening to and singing country western music. She was a member of the Catholic Church and h er roots were deeply embedded in Native American traditions.

Karen is survived by her 8 children,
Achillius J. Gagnon, Venus L. Gagnon, Carina M. Gagnon, Brandi L. Gagnon , Desirae M. Gagnon, Kara L. Ocasio, Luke D. Gagnon of Anchorage, Alaska and Kyle A. Davis of Belcourt, North Dakota; brothers and sisters, Brenda A. Lattergrass of Belcourt, ND , Basil B. Demery of Dunseith, ND, Dimathy M. Robertson of Whitehall, MT, Phyllis A. Delorme of Seattle, WA, Darcy D. Johnson of Enterprise, AL, Ferlin Q. Demery of Dunseith, ND and Jacqueline C. DeMerais of Grandforks, ND ; Aunts, MaryRose Counts, Ruth A. Hunt , and Theresa R. Counts of Dunseith, ND ; nine grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
