Obituary

June Stratton, age 93 of Bottineau, formerly of Westhope, passed away on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at a Bottineau nursing home with her family by her side.  Her funeral will be held on Friday, September 24, 2021 at 2:00 pm at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Westhope.  Visitation will be Thursday from 1:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.  Burial will be at the Westhope Cemetery.

June Stratton, a daughter of Jacob and Elfrieda (Garbe) Jacobson, was born on June 28, 1928 on the family farm near Newburg, ND.  She was the second of 3 daughters, Elva, June and Evelyn.  They lived on a farm in Newborg Township until 1941 when they moved to farm in Sergius Township southwest of Westhope.  She was baptized and confirmed at the English Lutheran Church in Maxbass.  She attended country school and Newburg Public School before graduating from Westhope High School.  She attended a year at Minot State College.  On July 6, 1959, she married Paul Stratton at the Trinity Lutheran Church Westhope.  While Paul served in the Army, they were stationed at Camp Cook, CA and several other places.  When Paul went off to Korea, June moved back to the Jacobson family farm.  When Paul returned from the service they moved to the family farm at Westhope. They then built the family farm in Sergius Township where they raised their 3 children, Michael, Daniel and Judith.  Paul passed away on April 25, 2005.  June remained on the family farm for several years before moving into an apartment in Bottineau.

June was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Westhope.   She enjoyed going to her families activities, gardening and spending time at the lake.  In her later years, she enjoyed traveling with Paul to Alaska, Hawaii and visiting her children, relatives and friends.

She is survived by her son, Michael (Priscilla) Stratton of Kalispell, MT; daughter, Judith Larson of Spring, TX; daughter-in-law, Debra Stratton of Westhope; 8 grandchildren, Benjamin (Kristina) Stratton of Kila, MT, Tyler (Angie) Stratton of Minot, Brock (Tina) Stratton of Minot, Griffin (Emily) Stratton of Childress, TX, Ashley (Lucas) Jelleberg of Meza, AZ, Kelsey Stratton of Mohall, Matthew Larson of Spring TX and Natalie Larson of Houston, TX; great-grandchildren, Isabelle Stratton, Harlow Stratton, Rhett Stratton, Tatum Jelleberg, Sydney Rae Jelleberg, Madison Jelleberg, Parker Johnson, Maddy Johnson, Bryce Johnson, Brayden Johnson, Dillon Lynnes, Danika Lynnes, Boston Case and Lola Case; sister, Evelyn Turner of Anchorage, AK, sister-in-law, Vera Ashley of Troutdale, OR and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Daniel Stratton; son-in-law, Larry Larson and sister, Elva Oakes.

Memorials are preferred to the Trinity Lutheran Church in Westhope or the Westhope Cemetery.

Arrangements were with Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.  Friends may sign the online register book at www.nerofuneralhome.net .
