June Thelma Skuza, age 85 of Bismarck, passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at a Bismarck hospital.  Her funeral will be held Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 11:00 am at the United Parish in Bottineau. Visitation will be Friday from 6:30 pm until 8:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.

June Thelma Skuza, daughter of Wales "Doc" and Ellen (McKay) Gillies was born on August 5, 1935 at Dunseith, ND.  She grew up in The Turtle Mountains and Seattle, WA before returning to Bottineau.  She graduated from Bottineau High School in 1954.  In 1956, June graduated from St. Luke's School of Nursing in Fargo as a Registered Nurse. She received her BS in Nursing, from Moorhead State University, in 1978. On September 15, 1956, June married Kenneth M. Skuza in Bottineau. Ken is a retired  U.S. Air Force Officer, over the years they lived in Florida, Texas, Mississippi, France, Ohio, California, New York, Minnesota and North Dakota. In 1997, they moved to Bismarck where they have since resided.

June was a member of the Methodist Church in Bottineau and later the McCabe United Methodist Church in Bismarck. She was very active with UMW, Red Cross, P.E.O, Red Hat Society and the Music Club of Bismarck and Fargo.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth M. Skuza of Bismarck; daughter, June Ellen Skuza Feil and her husband, Phillip of Timnath, CO; son, Kenneth M. Skuza Jr. and his wife, Penny of Riverdale, ND; 2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother and brother, George Gillies.
