Joyce Evans, 90 of Dunseith, died Sunday at a Bottineau nursing home. A private service will be held.
Joyce Pearl Evans ( Hagen), 90, formerly of Dunseith,ND passed away at the Good Samaritan Home in Bottineau ND on Sunday, October 11, 2020. Joyce was the daughter of Agnes (Melhus) and Thomas Hagen born on January 3,1930. Joyce attended schools at Beaver Dam, Loon Lake, Warroad MN and Dunseith where she graduated in 1948.
Joyce married Joseph Evans on September 29, 1952. Joyce worked at Hosmers Store until her family became a priority. They raised their 5 children in Dunseith and lived there all their lives. Joyce was involved in the Ladies Altar Guild at St. Louis Catholic Church and also volunteered many years to the American Cancer Society canvassing the town with her good friends to raise money for the organization. She also served on the PTA for many years at the schools.
Joyce had a great love of flowers and her large garden. She loved to bake and cook and was always trying new recipes. Joyce loved to read, crochet, golf, bowling and in the later years spending time at the lake with Dad. Joyce hosted many holidays thru the years and always served good food with family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Jeffrey Evans, Dell Rapids, SD, Laurie (Tim) Hill of Burlington, ND, Joseph (Leely) Evans Mooresville, IN, Jon Evans, St. Michael, MN; grandchildren Martae Montgomery, Stacy Montgomery, Teresa Evans, Jeffrey (Johnna) Evans II, Joseph Evans, Sarah (Aaron) Glasoe, Michael (Ricki) Hill, Taylor ( McKenzie) Hill, Caitlin (Jon) Talbert, Connor Evans, Morgan Evans, Olaf (Jordan)Evans, Casey (Dalton) Benner, Jaeger Evans, Cameron(Victoria) Olson; great-grandchildren Brody Montgomery, Kaydence Montgomery, Chloe Montgomery, Juzeah Husaboe, Abigail Evans, Tate Evans, Sophia Evans, Mia Evans, Xzavier Evans, Jacob Evans, Mason Evans, Oaklen Benner , Salem Benner, Steele Talbert, Kingston Talbert, Hayden Glasoe, Allie Jo Glasoe, Gauge Hill, and Fisher Hill; great-great grandchildren Aiden Evans, Beck Evans; brother Thomas Hagen, Mesa Arizona, sisters - in - law Betty Jo Hagen, TX and Darlene (Dot) Hagen, Arizona, and many nieces and nephews. A special thank you to her nephew Don Nelson and his wife Sharon for being there for Mom when we couldn't be.
Joyce was preceded in in death by her parents, her husband Joe, her daughter Stephanie, her daughter-in-law Tamara and her sisters Thelma Johnson, Lorraine Hogue, Helen Nelson; brothers Alfred, Lawrence, Orvin, Leland.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Good Samaritan Home for the kindness and care given to our Mother.
In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations go to the American Cancer Society.
