Obituary

JoLetta Shipman, 47 of Dunseith, ND passed away November 24, 2018 at her residence. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Dunseith at 10AM with burial to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at the church at  5:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00pm.
JoLetta Renee' Shipman was born in Rolla, ND on August 8, 1971 to James (Jim) Lindgren and Yvonne Lindgren (Grant). She lived in Ft. Yates, ND until the age of 9 when the family moved home to Belcourt, ND, where she graduated from Turtle Mountain Community High School with the class of 1990. Upon graduation she moved to Barrow, AK where she resided and was employed at the hospital for 3 years. JoLetta moved back to Belcourt, ND where she started her family. She was the mother to 4 children, Bethany Lindgren Kanayurak, Bryce Lindgren, Jerry Lindgren, and Brittany Herman. She earned her paraprofessional certificate through Turtle Mountain Community College. JoLetta worked at Ojibwa Indian School for 21+ years. Her passion was working one on one with special needs children and she enjoyed bringing a smile to her students and co-workers faces.
JoLetta fulfilled her lifelong dream of getting married before God in the church to Dennis Shipman on August 11, 2018 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Dunseith, ND. She was known for her famous garden and her 10 million wild cats. JoLetta is remembered by many to have had a big heart that brightened many with her smile and contagious laugh. She loved life and radiated that to those around her. Her grandson was wrapped around her finger, if he wanted Grandma Jo to play, she played. She enjoyed baking, cooking, canning, sewing, planting flowers, taking naps, and sitting on her porch drinking coffee. JoLetta enjoyed going out with her friends and dancing the night away. She is remembered for her silliness and ability to always find the positive in life.
JoLetta is survived by father Jim Lindgren of Belcourt, ND; her husband, Dennis Shipman of Dunseith, ND; children, Bethany Lindgren Kanayurak of New Town, ND, Bryce Lindgren of Devils Lake, ND, Jerry Lindgren of Belcourt, ND, and Brittany Herman of Minot, ND; step-children Kelsey Shipman of Spearfish, SD, Kaleb Shipman of Dunseith, ND, and Kinsey Shipman of Watford City, ND; sisters, Wanda Laducer (Ron Parisien) and JoAnne (Fabian) DeCoteau and brothers James Lindgren (Felina Laverdure), Waylon Lindgren, and Wendell Bradford.
JoLetta was preceded in death by her mother, Yvonne Lindgren; brother, James Sterling Lindgren Jr.; grandparents, William and Alice Grant, Axel and Adele Lindgren; and sister-in-law's Lola Bradford and Elaine Blue Lindgren.
Arrangements were with Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.  Friends may sign the online register book at www.nerofuneralhome.net.
