Jeremy
Mjoen
Jun 7, 1974 — Aug 10, 2022
Jeremy Mjoen, age 48 of Bismarck, formerly of Newburg passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at his home. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at 1:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.
Jeremy Quinn Mjoen was born into a loving family on June 7, 1974 to parents John and Carolyn Mjoen. Growing up on a farm with older siblings Jodie and Crystal was filled with animals, chores, board games, climbing trees, mud-sliding in the garden, playing outside and general mischief.
He graduated from Newburg High School in 1992 where he actively participated in sports and was the class clown. He then joined the Army Reserves. After basic training he graduated from the Academy of Health Sciences, San Antonio, TX and served as a Medical Specialist with the 311 th Evac Hospital Unit at Minot.
Jeremy attended Minot State University for a short time before realizing that life, not college, was where he was going to get his education and comedy material. To name a few, he worked farming, construction, food service, retail, movie theaters, grocery stores, telemarketing, bartender, black jack dealer, security, production, he even worked as a vacuum cleaner salesman, although he couldn't sell one to his own sister. However, his true passion was always making people laugh. He worked as MC and did stand-up comedy at the International Inn in Minot for years until he went to Los Angeles, CA to live his dream of doing comedy in well-known comedy clubs: The Laugh Factory, The Comedy Store, The Coffee Bean and other venues. He came back to ND and his good friend, comedian Jay Wendell Walker, introduced him to agents who set him up on comedy tours throughout the US and Canada. He later went to work at Menards in Minot for many years and most recently at Bobcat in Bismarck.
Family was his love, and he treated all of his friends like family. He could quote movies and tv shows like nobody else. He had a laugh that was contagious and infectious. He was the uncle that loved hard - he sent his nieces birthday cards that played music and very thoughtful gifts. He was a hugger and a friend to so many. He had the gift of being a great listener and an even better story teller.
He was born prematurely, due on July 4 th . He grew up celebrating that day as his favorite holiday because he loved to put on amazing fireworks shows that could last hours. That premature birth brought with it a heart condition and a life expectancy of 30 years. His family is forever grateful for those 30 years and the additional 18 bonus years. Jeremy passed away at the age of 48 in his home on August 10, 2022 unexpectedly but due to that heart condition.
Jeremy is survived by and will be deeply missed by his parents John & Carolyn Mjoen (Newburg); his brother Jodie (Brandy) Mjoen of Jamestown; sister Crystal (Don) Zane of Maricopa, AZ; nieces Madelyn Zane (Maricopa, AZ), Maxine Mjoen (Silver Spring, MD) and Vivian Mjoen (Fargo); and several extended family members.
Preceded in death by big brother, John Allen Mjoen; his grandparents; aunt Sandra Spencer; uncles Ron Willis, Jim Spencer, Marlin Mjoen; cousin Wayne Willis.
