Jawon Christopher Sr, age 45 of Dunseith, passed away Friday May 15, 2020 with his loving wife, Laurie, by his side. Visitation and wake will begin Wednesday May 27th, 2020 at6:00pm at the Dunseith Jesus Name Church. His funeral will be held on Thursday May 28th,2020 at 10:00am with burial to follow at the church cemetery. Pallbearers are Jawon ChristopherJr, James Hayes Sr, Terry Hayes, George Christopher, Todd Riser, Todd Belgarde, Nate Belgarde and Michael Selburg. Honorary Pallbearers are John Norman, Raymond Hayes, Shawn Christopher and Ralph Mason.

He was born June 16, 1974 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Mary Hayes and Willy Clark. He attended King High School in addition to taking college classes. Jawon was active in sports growing up, especially football, and he was a big Minnesota Vikings fan. In 2014 he moved to Dunseith and married the love of his life Laurie (Belgarde). He worked various jobs throughout his life and in 2015 he started J&L Cleaning Services which he owned and operated with his wife Laurie. Jawon was a member of the Dunseith Jesus Name Church and he was baptized in Jesus Name on July 13, 2014. Jawon was very active in the Church. He was one of the first to volunteer anytime there was work that needed to be done around the Church or in any of the members' homes. He was an Elder within the church and also drove the church bus, providing transportation for Bible School and Church Services. Jawon was a part of the Prison Ministry often attending Bible Studies in the Jails with inmates. He had a testimony that really connected with those that were incarcerated. The inmates enjoyed hearing about Jawons experiences and how God had changed his life. Jawons favorite Bible verse is Acts 2:38, "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost," and he often shortened up, "every one of you," to "all ya'll."

Jawon was well known in the community for his kindness and generosity. He will be greatly missed by many.

Jawon was preceded in death by his father Willy, his mother Mary, and Grandmother Audrey Thompson. He is survived by his wife Laurie, children Jawon Christopher JR (Philadelphia), Sierra Christopher (Twin Cities), KoriAnne Christopher (Twin Cities), Sariana Myshack (Duluth), Mandalyn Myshack (Duluth), Amariah Myshack (Duluth), Ezra James Christopher (Dunseith) and stepdaughter Malaika Belgarde (Dunseith). Granddaughters Amaya Norton and Gloriana Christopher. Siblings Raymond Hayes, James Hayes SR, Laura Maddox, Nannette Christopher, Terry Hayes, George Christopher, Tiona Christopher, and Shawn Christopher. Aunts Anette Mason, Lisa Evans, Uncle Ralph Mason and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
