Jason passed away peacefully in a Minot Hospital on Oct. 28th, 2020 due to heath issues.

Jason was born in Bottineau, ND,  to the late Verdine and Paula Klokstad on May 4th 1970.  Coming from a very Norwegian family, he was know to his grandparents as "Yason".  His family resided in Westhope ND.  Not long after, Jason would welcome 3 siblings.  Kory Gartner,  Minot ND, Misty Perschau, Waconia MN, and Elliot Klokstad, Mohall ND.  Jason attend and Graduated Westhope Public School in 1988.  He worked at Stevens Welding as a welder, and later at Farden Construction.

Jason was an avid, fisherman, deer and bird hunter.  He would spend many hunting seasons with his hunting buddy Frank Henley, as well as his yellow labs, Bullet and Sadie.  He was a Volunteer fire fighter for the Westhope Fire Department from 1994-2020, where he also served as Fire Chief for 4 years of his time with them.

Jason enjoyed hanging out at the local bar, chatting with friends.  They all say he had such a soft kind heart.

Jason had met and married the love of his live Holly Lesmann on July 14 2007.

Their marriage ended after 7 years, but remained the  best of friends over several years.  They exchanged a lot of phone calls most about fire and EMS, you know, typical nurse and fireman talk.  They even talked a lot about cooking, and many times just to talk.  His most recent plans were to move to Bismarck to be closer to Michael.  He had a true love for Michael.  Michael was lucky to have him as his dad.  He was a step dad to Holly's girls, Katrina (Mike) Floberg of Minot, Brittany Zappone of Bismarck, and Brandi Burcham of Bismarck, and all his grandchildren, Austyn Floberg, Kohner and Kenadi Zappone, and Amarii Burcham.

Jason is survived by Kory Gartner (Ron), son Bryce, Misty Perschau (Paul) son Asher and daughter Londyn, and brother Elliot, son Cordell, daughters, Abi, Neala, and Eva and nephew, Noah.  As well as his close friend Holly, and her children,  Katrina (Mike) Floberg, and daughter Austyn, Brittany Zappone, and daughter Kenadi, son Kohner, Brandi Burcham, daughter Amarii, and Michael.

He is proceeded into death by his mother and father, Verdine and Paula Klokstad, both sets of grandparents, niece Sawyer Perschau, Cousins Perry Persson, and  RJ Lindemoen, Aunts Nelda Etier, Joyce Heitmann, and Paulette Lindemoen,  Uncles, Perry  Persson Sr., Donald Biberdorf, Larry Klabo, Jack Stronstad, and Mark Owen.

A  service will be held at a later date and details will be announced at that time.

In Lieu of flowers, the family is asking memorials to be mailed to Nero Funeral home to help with funeral costs.
