Obituary

Janet Sivertson, age 80 of Westhope, died Friday at a Minot hospital.  Her funeral will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church in Westhope.  Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Westhope.  Burial will be at the Westhope Cemetery.
Janet Sivertson, a daughter of Cecil and Rose (Thompson) Matthews, was born on August 5, 1938 in Slayton, MN.  She moved to Westhope with her family and graduated from Westhope High School.  On October 29. 1955, she married Glenn Sivertson in Sidney, MT.  They made their home in Westhope and Janet worked at Reinholt Clothing Store.  They moved to Williston in 1984 and then to Gillette WY in 1986.  There she worked in a clothing store and also took computer classes.  They returned to Westhope in 1992 after Glenn retired.  They spent their retirement years in Westhope in the summer and Alamo, TX in the winter.  Glenn passed away on December 22, 2011.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Westhope where she served as an elder.  She was a Girl Scout leader for many years.  She was also a member of the Westhope Senior Citizens and the Red Hat Society.   She enjoyed hand stitching, photography, reading and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons,  Wade (Wanda) Sivertson of Gillette, Wyoming, Jamie (Hafida) Sivertson of Inver Grove Heights, MN and daughter, Julie (Mark) Clark of Bainbridge, NY. 10 grandchildren, Cassidy (Sarah) Sivertson, Ben (Allyce) Clark, Lacey Rose Funnell, Daniel (Will) Clark, Aaron Clark, Matthew Sivertson, Andrew Sivertson, Lance Sivertson, Rachel (Omar) Smith, Chad Sivertson; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Cecil Matthews of Colorado and Timothy Matthews of Connecticut; sister, Debra Branson of Arizona and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, William Matthews.
