Janet Davis, age 78 of Belcourt, died Tuesday March 12 ^th at a Belcourt hospital.  Her funeral will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 am at the St. Ann's Catholic Church in Belcourt.  Wake will begin Monday at 3:30 at the Church.

Jeanette "Janet" Aurelia Davis was born May 10, 1940 in Belcourt, ND to Robert and Mary Jane (Keplin) Davis. She was raised in Belcourt and attended school at Roussin Day School & Turtle Mountain Community School. She also completed her education at Turtle Mountain Community College. Janet had one son whom she loved, Byron. Janet worked primarily as a Nurse Aide and caretaker for many years. She also worked as a Receptionist at the Counseling Center, at IBM Company in St. Louis, MO, and in Bismarck in Tourist Information.

Janet loved to rummage and put on her own rummages with her sister Ruth. Janet would make Indian Taco's and Ruth would make pies and baked goods. She loved to cook, while Ruth loved to bake. She enjoyed going to the casino and playing cards at home with family and friends. She loved to clean house with her sister Corrine. They would always be cleaning, milking cows, hauling wood and water. As she got older she loved to keep her own flower garden and keep her yard nice. She would work in her yard with the help of her grandchildren and she would order a picnic table every year from Steve Allard "Chickadee" and sometimes wells and other yard decorations. She also enjoyed the company of her nieces and nephews. She would ride around with them and take them for rides. She also loved to listen to her son Byron play in his band, often following him out of town to many gigs, there wouldn't be a band practice or show where she wasn't there supporting him. Janet was a very loving person who enjoyed visiting and laughter. She would often tell stories of her grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she loved dearly. She also would tell stories of her brothers and sisters whom she missed.

Janet is survived by her son Byron (Louise) Davis of Belcourt, her grandchildren Mitchell (Nicky) Davis, Bryant (Sam) Davis, Brandis Davis, and Danielle Davis all of Belcourt. Great Grandchildren Xadrian, Brayden, Mitchell Jr., Zayden, Aiden, Maddyn, and Hayden, all of Belcourt. Sister-in-law Laura Pruit of St. Louis, MO, and many nieces and nephews.

Janet is proceeded in death by her parents Robert and Mary Jane (Keplin) Davis, brothers Russell (Leona) Davis, Elmer (Florence) Davis, and Joseph "Jokey" Davis, Verlin Davis, Omar Davis sisters Ruth Davis, Doreen (Morris) Baker, and Corrine (Louis Jr.) Vandal, Delores Davis and Mary Rose Davis.
