Janet Ballantyne, age 84 of Westminster, CO formerly of Maxbass and Westhope died Wednesday at a Thornton, CO hospice center.  Her funeral will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am at the English Lutheran Church in Maxbass.  Visitation will be one hour prior to service time.  Burial will be at the Graceland Cemetery at Maxbass.

Janet Ballantyne, a daughter of Peter and Amanda Lerfald, was born on August 12, 1933 in Bottineau.  She grew up in Maxbass and graduated from Maxbass High School.  She then attended Minot State Teachers College and received her Teacher's Certificate.  On December 28, 1952 she married Charles D. Ballantyne at Maxbass.  They made their home in Westhope.  This marriage later ended.  Janet lived in Minot for many years before moving to Westminster, CO.

Janet was member of the Lutheran Church.  She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.  She was a loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived by one daughter, Debbie (Roger) Mikkelson of Arvada, CO; 2 sons, Duane Ballantyne of Westminster, CO and Darwin Ballantyne of Colorado Springs, CO; one granddaughter, Mandy (Dominick) DeVencenty of Colorado Springs, CO; and one brother, Lloyd Lerfald of Fargo, ND.
