Janet Akers, age 72 of Bottineau, passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at a Fargo hospital. Her funeral will be held on Monday, August 22, 2022 at 2:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau. Visitation will be Monday from 11:00 am until service time.
On March 11th 1950 Janet Lorraine Akers was born to Kristinn and Orline (Peterson) Olafson, in Shelby, Montana. They moved to Towner, ND. Her father Kristinn preceeded her at an early age. Orline remarried to Raymond Badke. She attended grade school in Bantry and High School in Upham and also attended Bismarck Junior College.
Janet found an interest in interior designing and sewing. She collected dolls and created clothing for them. Janet designed the home for her and her husband Richard where they resided together over the past 28 years. She loved boating, camping and loved to travel. RV travel shows were some of her favorites as she neared her end while fighting MS that took hold of her many years ago. Lorraine had two sons through different marriages. Darol Paige, son Shawn Paige. Donald Zimbelman, son Shane Zimbelman. She met and fell in love with Richard Akers and spent the remainder of her life with him.
Lorraine is survived by her husband, Richard Akers, 2 son's Shawn Paige and Shane Zimbelman, daughter-In-law Shannon Zimbelman, grandson Jarend Zimbelman, granddaughter Aliza Zimbelman, sister's Sharon Carter, Diane Kuhnhenn, (father-in-law)Paul W. Akers, (brother+sister-in-laws)Tim Kuhnhenn, Eden Badke, Paul+Kathy Akers, Robert+Charlene Mcgreevy, 7 nieces 6 nephews, (nephew-in-laws)Christpher Akers, Scotty+Shawn Mcgreevy as well as many others, cousins and friends.
She was preceeded in death by both her fathers Kristinn Olafson and Raymond Badke, her mother Orline Badke (Peterson), brother Daryl Badke, mother-in-law's Francis Akers and Janet Whiting and brother-in-law Samual Carter as well as many other wonderful relatives, friends and pets.
The family of Janet would like to thank all those in attendance for helping us celebrate Janet's life. A reception will follow the burial at the Upham Park.
