James Willis, age 67 of Souris, died Friday at home near Souris.  His funeral will be held on Thursday at 10:00 am at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.  Burial will be at the Turtle Mountain Cemetery near Carbury.

James Willis, a son of Walter and Evelyn (Pederson) Willis, was born on March 22, 1951 in Erwin, TN.  He moved with his family to a farm near Souris in 1952.  Jim attended school in Souris and graduated from Souris High School in 1969.  He then worked on the family farm.  He also worked at the Bottineau Winter Park for many years during the winter months.  On February 14, 1986, he married Linda Leftwich in Arizona.  He later retired from farming and worked at the Bottineau Country Club.

Jim enjoyed working in the yard, fishing, deer hunting with his nephews and watching the Andy Griffith Show.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Willis of Souris; Ron (Linda) Willis of Topeka, KS and Doyle (LaRae) Willis of Mitchell, SD; sister-in-law, Dianne Willis of  Audubon, MN and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Walter, Steve and Jerry.
