James Houmann, age 59 of Westhope, died Thursday at a Minot hospital.  his funeral will be held on Monday, November 11, 2019 at 10:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church in Westhope.

James Robert Houmann, a son of Alvin and Carolyn (Knutson) Houmann, was born on May 17 1960 in Bottineau.  He was raised on farm near Westhope and graduated from Westhope High School in 1978.  He then attended NDSU and the NDSSS in Wahpeton earning a degree in agriculture.  He returned to Westhope and began farming.  On June 18, 1983, he married Janis Dahl at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Westhope.

Jim was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Westhope , the Club de Skinautique and the Roaring 20's Snowmobile Club.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, skiing, snowmobiling and 4-wheeling.  He loved family trips and telling stories.

Jim passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at a Minot hospital.

He is survived by his wife, Janis of Westhope; daughters, Chandra (Ted) Brauneck of Seattle, WA and Brienna (Justin) Giannuzzi of Grand Forks; grandson, Atticus James Brauneck; mother, Carolyn Houmann of Sun City, AZ; and sisters, Shannon (Tom) Greenway of Panama City, FL and Lisa Ostman of Sun City, AZ.

Arrangements were with Nero Funeral Home in Westhope.  Friends may sign the online register book at www.nerofuneralhome.net .

In lieu of flowers, the requests that memorial be given to the Westhope Fire Department.
