James Dean "Jim" Fulsebakke, 69, passed away peacefully on the morning of July 5, 2026, surrounded by the love and presence of his family. His funeral will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026 at 10:00 am at the First Lutheran Church in Bottineau. Visitation will be on Thursday starting at 3:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.
Jim was born on April 3, 1957, in Bottineau, North Dakota, to James N. Fulsebakke and Mildred Fulsebakke. Throughout his life, he built lasting relationships through his work, his faith, and his genuine love for people.
Whether he had known someone for years or had just met them, Jim had a remarkable gift for conversation. He could strike up a discussion with anyone, making people feel welcome, valued, and like an old friend. His kindness, easy smile, and genuine interest in others left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Jim devoted much of his life to farming, raising cattle, and working in the construction industry as a contractor. He was known for his strong work ethic, willingness to help others, and the pride he took in doing a job well.
Jim shared his life with his beloved wife, Marlee Rae Fulsebakke, and together they built a family that was the center of his life. His faith was an important part of who he was, and he was a devoted member of the Lutheran church.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Marlee Rae Fulsebakke; his daughter, Brittany Westby, and her husband, Lee Westby; his son, Josh Fulsebakke, and his wife, Mindy Fulsebakke; his cherished grandson, Aiden Westby; his sister, Shelly Albertson; his brothers, Gary Fulsebakke and Joel Fulsebakke; as well as many extended family members and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-in-law, Marlene and Oliver Reing, niece, Mandy Fulsebakke and nephew, Logan Fulsebakke.
Jim will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him. His legacy lives on through the family he loved, the friendships he cherished, and the countless lives he touched with his kindness and generosity.
