Helen Patterson, age 83 of Bottineau formerly of Souris, passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at a Bottineau nursing home.  Her funeral will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at 10:00 am at the United Parish in Bottineau.  Visitation will be Wednesday from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.

Helen lone Patterson, daughter of Hilmer and lda (Kornkven) Erickson was born on December 11, 1939, in Bottineau. She was the oldest of four children.  Helen went to country school for her first eight years and four years at Souris High School.  After high school, she worked at Sigerson Drug in Bottineau. On November 15, 1963, she married Ronald Patterson at the Lesje Lutheran Church near Souris.  Helen lived in and around Souris most of her life.  In 2021, she and Ronald moved to Bottineau.

She was very involved in church, community, and school events. She was a member of United Parish Church of Bottineau where she was an elder and Sunday school teacher. She was very active in the church's women's group and was the church treasurer. Helen enjoyed being a farm wife, cooking, baking, and following her sons' and grandchildren's activities.

Helen is is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Ronald of Bottineau; two sons: Douglas (Kristi), St. Cloud, MN and Mark (Jennifer), Bottineau. She had three grandchildren: Kade, Baton Rouge, LA, Camden, Fargo, ND and Keegan, St. Cloud, MN; sister, Lois Mortenson; brother, Paul (Elaine) Erickson and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Gonitzke.
