Hazel Romsos, age 92 of Bottineau, passed away on Friday, June 25, 2021 at a Bottineau hospital. Her funeral will be held on Friday, July 2, 2021 at 1:00 pm at the First Lutheran Church in Bottineau. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau. Burial will be at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Kramer.

Hazel Delores Romsos, a daughter of legal immigrant parents, Otto and Anna (Zurcher) Koster, was born on August 26, 1928 on the family farm near Russell, ND.  She attended Liberty School near Newburg and graduated from Westhope High School in 1946.  She then went on to receive her Teaching Certificate from Minot State Teacher's College.  Hazel taught in Kramer, Souris and Tolley for 8 years.  On October 13, 1955, Hazel married Stanley Romsos at the Zion Lutheran Church in Kramer.  They lived several places before settling on the Romsos Family Farm in 1957.  They had 3 children, Lisa, Lyndon and Lathan.  After 51 years of marriage, Stanley passed away in 2006.

Hazel and Stanley worked together to grow the family farm.  She served homemade meals to all.  She loved family vacations to warmer climates and later in retirement they traveled to Arizona, Florida, Hawaii and Nevada to name a few.  Hazel enjoyed dancing, bowling, walks, hand written letters, long phone calls with her sisters and friends, pontoon rides and time spent at Lake Metigoshe.  In her younger years she spent time gardening, canning, baking, and picking June berries.  She enjoyed serving an apple pie made from her own apple trees and her home grown rhubarb.  Some of her grandson's favorites were her mashed potatoes and homemade ice cream with chocolate.  She was involved in her children's activities and interests.  Years later came her 3 grandsons and she did all the special things that grandmas do.  She made them feel special and important.  She followed their interests, sports and school activities and loved together time at the lake.  Hazel also liked flowers especially tiger lilies, irises, lilacs and on special occasions a vase of roses or carnations.  She liked to shop, but was thrifty and wanted everything she purchased to last forever.  In her later years she spent time watching Wheel of Fortune, Mollie B Polka Party and the First Lutheran Church service.  She also played Bingo and played to win.  As her health failed, she tried to stay positive and give a good fight to live.  Frustrated with all the physical loses her faith provided her strength.  Hazels love, support, generosity, kindness, sense of humor and wit will be greatly missed by all.  Her motto over the years became, "Enjoy the simple things!"

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Lyall) Krueger of Minot; sons, Lyndon (Virginia) Romsos and Lathan Romsos all of Bottineau; grandsons, Jacob Romsos of Salt Lake City, Brent Romsos of Bottineau and Logan Krueger of Minot; sister, Betty (Curt) Hahn and Ginny Sayler; brother, Richard Koster and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Sophie Hegdahl, Marie Sayler and Gertrude Palmer and brother, Lloyd Koster.

Arrangements were with Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.  Friends may sign the online register book a www.nerofuneralhome.net.
