Harold (Sonny) Dwight Larson, age 73, of Bottineau, ND, passed away at SMP-St. Andrews in Bottineau, ND on March 12, 2025. Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life will be at a later date.
Sonny was born on May 31, 1951, at St. Andrews Hospital to Harold N. and Doris (Erdmann) Larson. He was baptized at First Lutheran Church. Sonny attended school in Bottineau and graduated in 1969. He attended the State School of Science in Wahpeton and graduated in 1971 as a diesel mechanic. He worked at Larson's Westland and M&J Equipment before joining his dad at Larson's Welding and Machine Shop. The business was later sold, and Sonny went to work for the City of Bottineau until he retired. He also volunteered with the Bottineau Fire Department for many years.
Sonny married Linda Olson in August of 1974 at the Lake Metigoshe Chapel. Then in 1982 they were able to adopt a baby boy and named him Jared Thor. They lived in Bottineau until building a home in the Turtle Mountain foothills. They planted an orchard and garden and shared the abondance with whomever wanted to come and partake. Friends were always welcome.
Sonny was an outdoorsman and hunted deer, upland game and waterfowl. He enjoyed fishing and taking fishing trips to Canada. Sonny was a good cook and had perfected his deep-fried hand-battered walleye.
Sonny is survived by his son Jared (Jessica) Larson and granddaughter Fallyn of Muskogee, OK. Sisters Dorien (James) Bailey and Donna (Michael) Milbrath of Marshall, MN. Brother-in-law Duane (Betty) Olson of Minot and many extended family members. He was proceeded in death by his parents, wife Linda and brother-in-law James Bailey.
