Obituary

Harlan Flaata, age 89 of Bottineau, died Tuesday at a Rolette nursing home.  A memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 pm at the Lake Metigoshe Christian Center.

Harlan Flaata, a son of Henry and Clara (Abrahamson) Flaata, was born on July 18, 1928 at Bottineau.   He grew up on the family farm and attended Cordelia School.  He entered the US Army on October 30, 1951 and served in Panama before receiving his honorable discharge on September 22, 1953.  In 1955 he married Joyce Iverson and they made their home on the Flaata Family Farm. Through the years, Harlan raised cattle and grain.  He also did custom baling and butchered for the Biberdorfs.

Harlan passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at a Rolette nursing home.

He survived by his wife, Joyce of Bottineau; 3 children, Mark (Ann), Peggy and Steve; 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; brother, Wendell (Susan) Flaata; sister, Marlys (Audrin) Larsen and brother-in-law, Lloyd Larshus.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Orlean Larshus and Hazel (Cliff) McPherson
