Gloria Lunday, age 86 of Dunseith, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at a Bismarck hospital. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 29, 2024 at 3:00 pm at the St. Anthony's Catholic Church near Belcourt. Her wake will be on Sunday starting at 4:00 pm with a rosary at 7:00 pm at the church.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 29, 2024 at 3:00 pm at the St. Anthony's Catholic Church near Belcourt. Her wake will be on Sunday starting at 4:00 pm with a rosary at 7:00 pm at the church.
Gloria M. Davis-Lunday was born on March 23, 1937 in Belcourt, ND to Edward "Jack" and Ernestine (Malaterre) Davis. Gloria attended Roussin School in Belcourt, Greatwalker School in Belcourt, ND, Marty Boarding School in Marty, SD.
Gloria was united in marriage to John "Jack" Lunday in June of 1962 and together they had eleven children. Gloria dedicated her life to her husband Jack, her children, and all her grandchildren. She was the full embodiment of a matriarch. The foundation of her life was her unwavering faith in the lord. Gloria was one of the most loving-caring individuals you will ever meet, she was a wife, a mom, grandmother, and a dear friend too many.
She is renowned for her homemade cooking, particularly her frybread and pies. Beyond the kitchen, Gloria showcased one of many talents as a seamstress and knitter, creating an array of handcrafted items. She enjoyed canning and having her own garden. Gloria was gifted with a nurturing nature, not only was it conveyed in her gardens, but it was manifested within her home and family.
Gloria cherished her family, she enjoyed long visits, music, and she was a fluent speaker of the Mitchif language. Not only was she a matriarch of her family but a matriarch of the community. She was a special presence who loved her people and community. Gloria loved holidays and spending time with family and friends. She was very loving and welcoming to everyone. Gloria was known for her faith, saying her daily rosary for her family and those in need. Gloria's caring nature led her to never leave anyone out of her prayers.
Gloria is survived by her husband John "Jack" Lunday, her children Jim (Annette) Lunday, Ed (Tammy) Lunday, Donna (Merle) Lunday-St. Claire, Vern (Virginia) Lunday, Peter (Tera) Lunday, Shonn (Patty Sather) Lunday, Clark (Kernis) Lunday, Alissa (Rob) Parsons, Brent Lunday, and Lyle (Alice) Lunday, Widowed Daughter-in-law Bobbi VanSteenvoort-Lunday, her 70 grandchildren, 105 great grandchildren, 15 great-great grandchildren, sisters-in-law Germaine Davis and Lyda Zeller, Brother-in-law Eddie Griffith.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents Edward "Jack" Davis, Ernestine Malaterre-Davis, her son Samuel Lunday. Her siblings Angeline "Fee" Allery, Violet Dubois, Lillian "Florianne" Griffith, Clifford Davis, Francis Davis, Christopher Davis, Raymond Bottineau, Father-in-law Lyle Lunday Sr., Mother-in-law Ethel (Morris) Lunday. Brothers-in-law Robert Lunday, Lyle Lunday Jr., sisters-in-law Rosemary Phelps, Roxanne and Nancy Moore.
