Gladys D Nehring was born in Bottineau County on May 15, 1929 to William Theodore and Velma (Fekan) Ballantyne. Gladys was the oldest of seven children and was raised on a farm south of Kuroki and later in the city of Kuroki. She attended school in Kuroki and Westhope and graduated from Westhope High School. She received her teaching certificate from Minot State and taught in various area schools including Roth, Kuroki, Willow City and Gardena.

On November 23, 1953 she married Norman (Bud) Nehring at The Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa. They made their home on the family farm near Gardena and celebrated 45 years of marriage. They had one son Kent who was her proudest accomplishment in life. Her last years on the farm were spent caring for Bud before he passed away in 1998. After Bud passed, her journey to live in town touched her life with many new friends as well as old friends. She enjoyed riding the Senior bus to Minot to shop and visit family and loved watching the news and staying current with politics. Gladys was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles and loved a competitive game of Scrabble.

She enjoyed any time she could spend with her family and was incredibly proud of her two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Gladys was a member of The United Parish in Bottineau and was always grateful for the outreach and friendship from the members.

Gladys was diagnosed with Addison's Disease in 1973 and was a remarkable long time survivor. She passed away at the Good Samaritan Society nursing home in Bottineau on October 2, 2020, with Covid-19.
