Geraldine Merle Dahl, age 93 of Westhope, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at Minot Health and Rehab.  Her memorial service will be held on Monday, August 26, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church in Westhope.  Burial will be at the Westhope Cemetery.

Merle was born July 26,1931 to Gilbert and Myrtle (Stenseng) Foss at Westhope. She was raised in Landa and graduated from Landa High School as Valedictorian. On October 9, 1949, she married Orvis Dahl at Landa. They moved to California in 1952 where they raised their family. She worked as an aide at several schools while in Anaheim. They moved back to Westhope in 1974. She worked as a CNA at the Westhope Nursing Home and then as head cook at the Westhope School until she retired. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who loved to cook, bake, and travel with her family.

Merle is survived by her 4 children; Lon (Debbie) Dahl of Melbourn, FL, Diane (Denny) McKechnie of Westhope, Ron (Liz) Dahl of Grand Junction, CO, Janis Houmann of Westhope; Grandchildren Jason (LeNette) Dahl of Moreno Valley, CA, Aaron (Janna) McKechnie of Minot, Michael (Rose) Dahl of Havana, IL, Ryan Dahl of Davenport, FL, Chandra (Ted) Brauneck of Tacoma, WA, Brienna (Justin) Giannuzzi of Great falls, MT, Ashley and Caitlyn Dahl of Grand Junction, CO; 9 Great Grandchildren; her sister Gwendy (Danny) Aftem of Westhope, her brother Virgil Foss of Grand Forks and numerous nieces and nephews.

Merle was preceded in death by her husband Orvis, her parents Gilbert and Myrtle Foss, brothers; Buddy, Gene and Orlan Foss and son-in-law Jim Houmann.
