Gerald was born on July 1, 1970, to Ronald Medrud and Julie DeCoteau in Bottineau ND. He spent his childhood years living in various places throughout South and North Dakota. Growing up, Gerald enjoyed spending time with his siblings, playing football and wrestling. Gerald graduated from Dunseith High School in 1989 and continued his education at NDSU and Mayville State. He later embarked on a long and fulfilling career in law enforcement, where he found his true passion in serving the communities he lived in.
