George Short, age 58 of Dunseith, died Sunday, October 18, 2020 at a Minot hospital.  A private service will be held.

George Rocky Short, a son of Annamae Ironbear Longie, was born on March 25, 1962 at Belcourt.  He married Karen Ann Short on June 8, 1979.  They were married for 41 and had four children.  They lived and raised their children in Dunseith for the majority of their lives.  George attended college at the United Tribes in Bismarck and received a diploma in carpentry.  They later moved home and he worked for many years for the Dunseith Housing Authority.  He then worked as the head custodian at the Dunseith School before retiring due to his health.  Karen passed away on August 25, 2020.

George enjoyed hunting, fishing, metal detecting, going to the casino taking road trips and spending time with his wife and family.  He loved telling stories and teaching his children and grandchildren how to build and how to prepare and cook Sunday breakfast for his family.  George always took time to help others and was very kind and loving.

He is survived by his 4 children, Carrie (Larry) Forschen of Dunseith; Heather (Kendall) Gladue of Dunseith, Cseirra (Kenny) Bergan of Minot and George Short of Fargo as well as his 7 grandchildren, Jorja, Kendra, Chiara, Chauneya, Kayl, Chiana and Kenton
