George Carbonneau age 86 of Bottineau, passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at a Bottineau nursing home.  His funeral will be held on Friday, October 14, 2022 at 10:00 am at the St. Mark's Catholic Church in Bottineau.  Visitation will be Thursday from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a prayer service starting at 7:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the St. Mark's Catholic Church and the Bottineau Good Samaritan Center in Bottineau.

George Carbonneau, the son of Herman and Theresa (Normandin) Carbonneau, was born on December 28, 1935 in Bottineau.  He grew up on the family farm east of Bottineau.  He graduated from Bottineau High School in 1953 and the ND School of Forestry in 1955.  George worked the family farm.  His dad passed away in 1976 and he and his mother moved into Bottineau.  George was his mother's caregiver along with operating the family farm and working as a dispatcher for the Bottineau County Sheriffs Office.  His mother passed in 1989.

George had many hobbies.  He enjoyed working on and repairing old engines and cuckoo clocks.  He traveled to many shows and engine sales around the country to talk about old engines.  He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and collecting guns.  George liked to joke and play pranks.  He was awarded the FFA Honorary Degree and hosted the state FFA & 4H land judging contest at his farm in 2004.  He was also a recipient of the Turtle Mountain Soil Conservation Award.  His cat "Snoopy" was his family, he is 16 going on 17 and George would get a big smile on his face whenever he was mentioned.

George passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at a Bottineau nursing home.
