Gary Fred DeCoteau, age 75, of Isanti, Minnesota, formerly of Dunseith, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, May 12th, 2024.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 21st, 2024, at the Dunseith City Hall with Pastor Kim Fox of Bismarck officiating. Wake/Viewing will be held from 8:00am to 1:00p.m. with services beginning at that time. Burial will be in St. Sylvan's Cemetery following the service.
Casket bearers are Del Ray DeCoteau, Lynn DeCoteau, Mike Counts, Kelly Azure Jr., Van Peltier, Garrett DeCoteau, Terry 'Jiggs' Beston, Tyrrell DeCoteau. Honorary bearers are his brothers, Earl, Raphael, LeRoy, Gene and Terry.

Gary, son of Benjamin & LaRose (St. Claire) DeCoteau, was born March 24, 1949, at the family home in Dunseith. He received his education at WIS in Wahpeton and Dunseith schools.
In the late 70's early 80's he moved to Minneapolis, MN where he was employed at Cinch Nuline and RMS until his retirement.
In his spare time he loved spending time with family and friends, riding his motorcycle, watching a Vikings game, talking on the phone to get the news of happenings in Dunseith. Although he moved to Minnesota, he always considered Dunseith, North Dakota his home. He will be forever loved and dearly missed.
He is survived by his children, Alysha Ficken, Isanti, MN, Lisa (Carl Charette) Cavanaugh, Rolette, Tina (Jesse Greatwalker) Beston, Belcourt, Gary Joe (Tara) Beston, South Heart, ND, Earl Dale (Michelle) Gooden, Taylorville, Utah, Gailian (Collin) Belgarde, Dunseith, Chad Tooke, Bismarck; significant other, Elaine "Poopsie" Ficken, Isanti, MN, grandchildren, great grandchildren; brothers – Earl 'Ducks' DeCoteau, Flandreau, SD, Raphael (Carla) DeCoteau, LeRoy (Wendy) DeCoteau, Gene (Kim) DeCoteau, Terry (Myrna) DeCoteau, all of Dunseith; sisters – Betty Swain, Shirley Belgarde, Lolly Lindquist, Dean DeCoteau, and Esther DeCoteau, all of Dunseith; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben & LaRose DeCoteau; grandparents, Robert & Mary Alice (Norquay) St. Claire and Fred & Philomene (Azure) DeCoteau; brothers, Kenny, Leslie and Wesley DeCoteau; sister, Ella 'Susie' Davis; brothers-in-law, Allen 'Kumish' Davis, Dennis Counts, Darrold Krumweide, Richie Lindquist, James 'Smiley' Belgarde; sisters-in-law, Kim DeCoteau and Patricia DeCoteau; nieces, Billie Jo DeCoteau, DeAnn Krumweide, Rhonda DeCoteau, Danielle Swain, Jennifer DeCoteau and Jody DeCoteau; nephews, Benjamin Gene DeCoteau, Ben Patterson, Brandon Stewart Jr. and other extended family members.
Arrangements are with Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau, ND.
