Obituary

Galen Waller, 71, Bottineau, died Wednesday at Trinity Health in Minot. Funeral will be held at 10 AM Monday Feb 1, 2021 at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau, ND with Reverend Carol Wendel of First Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation will be before the service. Interment will be in the Oak Creek Cemetery following the service.

Galen was born May 28, 1949 to Glen and Nelda (Alveshere) Waller at Devils Lake, ND. He attended schools in Esmond, Riverdale, and Bottineau and graduated from Bottineau High School in 1967. He then went on to the North Dakota School of Forestry. One teacher there said that Galen had the best mathematical mind of anyone that he had taught.

Galen was confirmed at First Lutheran Church, Bottineau and was a longtime member of that church. Always a devoted son, he would faithfully read daily devotions to his mother after her eyesight decreased. Galen also did research, viewing and scrolling through microfilm, on family history with his father. He enjoyed reading and watching television. He was particularly skilled in reupholstering, and many people have sat upon chairs that he recovered. Many will remember his attendance at various hockey games throughout the area.

Survivors include his mother, Nelda Waller of Bottineau, sister, Shirley (Larry) Wutzke of Jamestown, and brother, David (RaeDell) Waller of Newcastle, WY. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. His father and a sister-in-law preceded him in death.

His funeral will be livestreamed on Monday, February 1, 2021 at 10:00 am at https://youtu.be/YbwvUf_KbhA
