Gabriel M. Sattler, age 84 of Bottineau passed Away Thursday, July 7, 2022 at a Bottineau hospital. His funeral will be held on Monday, July 11, 2022 at 2:00 pm at the First Lutheran Church in Bottineau. Visitation will be Sunday from noon until 7:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau. Burial will be at the Oak Creek Cemetery in Bottineau.
Gabe was born on May 25, 1938 in Knox, ND to Sylvester and Kathryn (Thomas) Sattler, the 11 th of 12 children. He was raised in Knox and graduated from Knox High School in 1956. After graduation, he joined the US Navy in June of 1956. He began his training at the US Naval Station in San Diego. He served aboard the USS Estes, an amphibious force command ship as a Quartermaster Senior Navigator. He received his honorable discharge in August of 1960. He moved to Bottineau for work and met and married Frances Rodlund in March of 1962. This marriage was blessed with 5 children. On August 23, 1997, he married Nina Moum at the First Lutheran Church in Bottineau. They enjoyed camping, sitting around campfires and reading. Their time with family, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends brought much joy to their lives.
Gabe spent 48 years laying floor covering in many homes around the area. He held numerous jobs including Great Plains, Bottineau Furniture and a policeman for the city of Bottineau. He then became self- employed for several years with Sattler Installation. He and his son worked together in construction. Later, he drove school bus for Bottineau Public School which he enjoyed immensely.
He is survived by his loving family; wife, Nina of 25 years; children, Gabe Jr (Brenda) of Devils Lake, Ann Zorn (Gary) of Bottineau, Julie Sackenreuter (Bill) of Devils Lake and Tammy Sattler of Rugby; 8 grandchildren, April, Melissa, Chris, Amber, Brittany, Dusty, Megan and Kourtney; 21 great-grandchildren; younger sister, Rose Marie of Billings, MT; sister-in-law, Marie Sattler of Rugby; brothers-in-law, Curt Moum, Rick Moum (Pam) and Scott (Terri) Moum; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and longtime friends. He is in a better place now but will be missed dearly.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ronnie; parents; great-granddaughter, Kaylee Marie Danielson; 7 brothers; 3 sisters; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Arlin and Minnie Moum and brother-in-law, Barry Moum
