Obituary

Florine Thorson, age 96 of Bottineau, died Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at a Bottineau nursing home.  Her funeral will be held on Saturday,  November 10, 2018 at 1:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.  Burial will be at the Oak Creek Cemetery in Bottineau.
Florine Thorson, daughter of Marion and Fred Stager, was born July 20,1922 in Marine City, Michigan. She grew up in Marine City and graduated from Marine City high school.  She worked in two defense factories during World War II, at which time she was considered a "Rosie the Riveter".  She married her one and only, Orville Thorson, on December 17th, 1944. They lived in Sparta, Wisconsin while Orville was in the army. They came to Bottineau in August, 1945; where they made their home. Florine was a mother and housewife, while Orville owned and operated Thorson Radiator Service.
Florine was a member of 1st Lutheran Church in Bottineau.
Florine is survived by daughter Sandra (Ron) Bergman and son John Thorson. Five grandchildren: Susan (Shawn) Schmutzler, Robin (Svet) Savov, Mercedes VanKoten, Kyle Thorson, and Harrison VanKoten as well as six great grandchildren.
Florine was preceded in death by her husband, Orville, and daughter Barbara VanKoten.
