Obituary

Eva Bauer, age 97 of Westhope, died Sunday at a Minot nursing home.  Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 1:00 pm at the St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Westhope.  Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Westhope.  Burial will be at the Westhope Cemetery.

Eva Bauer, a daughter of Joseph and Maranne (Bitz) Lauinger, was born on October 27, 1920 at Dodge, ND.  She grew up near Dodge and later moved to Detroit and worked as a housekeeper.  She then lived and worked at San Haven north of Dunseith.  She later moved to Butte, ND.  On November 28, 1944, she married Mike Bauer at Washburn.  They lived on the farm near Butte until 1949, when they purchased a bar at Mercer.  In 1953, they moved to Minot but returned a year later to Mercer to run the bar.  They lived in Turtle Lake for a time, where Eva ran a café and pool hall.  In 1959, they moved to Westhope and Eva worked at the dry cleaners before becoming an aide at the Westhope Home.  They moved to Minneapolis in 1984 and created B&B Backup Services.  Mike and Eva backed up computer systems to tape after normal working hours.  In 1995, they moved to Westhope, then Minot and a year later back to Westhope.  Mike passed away on July 10, 2001.  Eva remained in Westhope until January of 2017 when she moved into the Trinity Homes in Minot.

Eva was a member of the St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Westhope.  She enjoyed embroidering, baking and playing cards.

She is survived by four sons, Robert (Barb) of Delavan, WI, Darvin (Kathy) of Plymouth, MN, Richard (Norma) of Westhope and Daniel (Kim) of Janesville, WI; 8 grandchildren, Matthew, Angela "Alex", Lisa, Mark, Amanda, Nicole, Megan and Travis; 10 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by 12 siblings and 15 brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
