Emil
Andersen
Dec 26, 1930 — Dec 14, 2017
Emil Andersen, age 86 of Maxbass, died Thursday at a Bottineau nursing home. His funeral will be held on Monday at 11:00 am at the English Lutheran Church in Maxbass. Visitation will be Sunday from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.
Emil was a member of the English Lutheran Church in Maxbass where he served on the church council. He served on the Maxbass School Board, the Renville Township Board and as tax assessor for Renville Township.
Emil's main passion and his life revolved around the farm. From the time he was born there to the time he moved to Minot, he poured his heart and soul into making it what it was. Emil was very meticulous, as anyone who visited or drove by would be able to tell you. Not only was the machinery lined up neat, clean and orderly, every tool in the shop was in its proper place. The grass was always mowed and the buildings were kept painted and maintained. New trees on the farm were always weeded and rocks in the field were always picked. One of Emil's prized possessions was the barn on the farm and its condition. People have actually seen it from the highway and pulled in to get a better look! In earlier days, Emil hauled coal for many years for the school and people in the Maxbass area. Emil also enjoyed a good game of pinochle, attending basketball games of his children and grandchildren and going to Renville Corner for an "Emil Burger" and half order of fries!
Emil passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at a Bottineau nursing home surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his sons, Daryl (Muriel) and children, Stephanie, Lyndsey, Whitney and Courtney; Duane (Sharon) and children, Ashley and Alexandra; daughters, Cheryl (Alan Scherr) and children, Allison and Anthony; Barb (Ryan Henry) and children, Max and George; 13 great grandchildren; companion, Dorothy Kjera and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Floyd, sisters, Marie and Margaret, niece, Sylvia Maker and nephews Jerry Farden, Kevin Martin and Bobby Andersen.
Arrangements were with Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau. Friends may sign the online register book at www.nerofuneralhome.net .
