Ella Borgen, age 83 of Bottineau formerly of Landa, died Friday, March 22, 2019 at a Bottineau hospital.  Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at 2:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.  Visitation will be Tuesday from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.

Ella Borgen, a daughter of Nick and Ragna (Opdahl) Ferstad, was born on July 22, 1935 at Kramer.  She was raised on the farm near Landa and she attended country school.  She was the oldest of 4 siblings.  In 1956, she met the love of her life, Agnor Borgen.  They were married on November 18, 1960.  They had 5 wonderful children.  Ella spent most of her time raising the children, she also helped on the farm driving grain truck even though she never had a driver's license.  Agnor passed away on March 7, 1989.

She was a member of the Mouse River Church and later Trinity Lutheran Church where she was active in the Ladies Aid.  She enjoyed taking care of her cows and it broke her heart when she had to sell them.  She loved to sing, play guitar, gardening, crocheting, and baking.  She also loved country music and had a huge collection of cassettes and cd's.  She had a love for dogs and always looked forward to visits from the grand puppies.  Those that knew her loved her for her kind heart, sense of humor, her smile and a laugh that would light up the room.

Ella passed away on Friday, March 22, 2019 at a Bottineau hospital.

She is survived by her children, Lori (John) Pedie of Souris, Pat (Warren) Schneider of Bottineau ; John (Jonny) Borgen of Coon Rapids, MN, Sherry (Lennie) Wagner of Minot and Bonnie (Gilmore) Knutson of Westhope; grandchildren, Kara (Jeremy) Fylling, Jay (Nicole) Pedie, Lee Schneider, Mickey (Jesse) Johnson and Molly (Rouven) Johnson; great-grandchildren, Allie and Harper Fylling, Kenlie and Jaymison Pedie, Elliot, Owen and Emily Johnson; sister, Arlene (Jim) Lesmann and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Karen Foreid and Rosella (Dolly) Getchell; in-laws, Bjarne and Rose Borgen, Melvin and Elsie Borgen, Joe and Helen Borgen and Astrid and Norman Nordmark.
