Eli Davis
Jr
Aug 8, 1956 — Feb 7, 2026
Eli Lee Davis Jr. (69) passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Trinity Hospital in Minot. Eli was born on August 8, 1956 to Eli Joseph Davis Sr. and Mabel Irma Davis (Azure) in Belcourt, ND. Eli's siblings are Kenneth "Kenny" J. Davis (LeeAnn), Logan Davis, Victoria "Vicky" Short (Edward), Sheldon Davis (Betty), and Charmaine Johnson (Brian). He was the middle child of six children.
Eli Davis was a devoted family man, proud Army veteran, and former law enforcement officer whose life was defined by service, kindness, and love for those around him. Eli honorably served his country in the United States Army and later continued his commitment to protecting others through his work in law enforcement. Service was not just his profession—it was part of who he was. After the passing of his father, he joined the army for a service that lasted ten years. When he returned home after his service, Eli selflessly stepped in to help care for his mother, demonstrating the quiet strength and sense of responsibility that marked his life.
Family meant everything to Eli. He especially cherished time spent with children and was a devoted and loving grandfather. Known affectionately as the "Funcle," Eli was a favorite among his nieces and nephews, who were always eager to visit him and spend hours playing games like "Cavalry and Indians." Eli approached each day as an adventure waiting to be discovered. His playful spirit and gentle heart made him someone children naturally gravitated toward.
Eli enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, including peaceful walks around his home, time spent with loved ones, and watching old westerns on television. A kind-hearted man who disliked conflict, he carried himself with patience, warmth, and compassion.
Though he faced Parkinson's Disease with courage, Eli never let it define him. He continued to enjoy trips, outings, and going out to eat, embracing life and making memories whenever he could.
Eli Davis will be remembered for his service, his devotion to family, his playful joy, and his unwavering kindness. His presence brought comfort and laughter to those who knew him, and his legacy will live on in the many lives he touched.
Eli is survived by his siblings, Logan Davis of New Town; Sheldon (Betty) Davis of Belcourt; Charmaine Johnson of Belcourt; daughter Rachael (Cody) Houle; five grandchildren, Elijah; Kylee; Kaylee; Rylee, and Cody; and various nieces, nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents, brother Kenneth J. Davis, sister Victoria Short, brother-in-law Brian Johnson, and nephew Michael Short.
Casket Bearers are Brian James Johnson Jr., Edward "Rocky" Short, Michael Short, Sage Johnson, Kevin Davis, and Eli Davis. Honorary Bearers are all of his nephews and fellow law enforcement officers.
