Duane Garrick LaFountain, age 40 of Dunseith, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at his home in Dunseith.  His funeral will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 10:00 am at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Dunseith.  His wake will be on Wednesday starting at 3:00 pm at the Eagle Heart Cultural Center in Dunseith.

Duane Garrick LaFountain, a son of Duane George LaFountain and Marla Fox, was born on October 24, 1982 in Belcourt.  He attended school at Dunseith Day School and received his GED in Bismarck.  He worked odd jobs throughout North Dakota.  DJ loved spending time with his family especially his 4 children, Cayd'n, Ivory, Dayton and Delayne.  He enjoyed playing dice with his boys and enjoyed to bake and cook.

He is survived by his mother, Marla Fox of Dunseith, sisters, Michelle (Chris) of Dunseith, Pam (Shane) of Maxbass, Nicole LaFountain of Dunseith; brothers, Ricky of Dunseith and Ryan (Heather) of Dunseith; children, Cayd'n (Jerney) of Dunseith, Ivory (Trenton) of Dunseith and Dayton and Delayne of Wahpeton; 17 nieces and nephews and 2 great nephews.

DJ was preceded in death by his father, Duane George LaFountain, paternal grandparents, Alex and Verna LaFountain; maternal grandparents, Robert and Irene Beston and many uncles, aunties and cousins.
