Dorothy Racine, age 80 of Dunseith, died on Sunday, October 11, 2020 at a Dunseith nursing home. Her funeral was held on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at the St. Johns Senior Center. Officiating at the service was Father Richard Fineo. Music was provided by C. Joe Parisien. Brad Defender, Max Defender and Dakota Gunville played the drums.
Dorothy, a daughter of Andrew and Mary (Chase) Gunville, was born on December 5, 1939 and was raised in Dunseith. She lived and worked at the Jewel Plant in Rolla for 10 years and she later returned to Dunseith. And worked at the San Haven Sanatorium until she became disabled. Before her passing, she lived at the Dunseith Community Nursing home where her granddaughter, Keshia cared for her along with a few worked she was very close to.
Dorothy enjoyed spending time with family and friends playing bingo and watching TV. She loved having a neatly mowed yard and loved cooking and feeding anyone who walked in the door. She also enjoyed her weekly trip to the sisters (Rummage). She was a petite woman but was as feisty as could be. She enjoyed ruffling everyone's feathers. She will be remembered for her caring heart, unselfish ways, feisty personality, work ethic and the love she had for her children, grandchildren family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Gail (Dennis) Belgarde of Fargo, Julie Laducer (Clarence Allery Jr) of St. John, ND, Fred (Kathy) Laducer of Belcourt and Vincent (Peggy) Racine of Dunseith; grandchildren, Robert (Amanda) Belgarde, Laura Belgarde, Jeny (Jordan) Runsvold, Kristy (Monte) LaVallie, Scott (Chante) Allery, Cory Laducer, Sylvester "Sly" Dionne, Shonda Laducer (RJ), Keshia Laducer (Michael), Teiha Laducer (Justin), Elliot Laducer, Macey (Tyson) LaRocque), Vincent Racine Jr; 28 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Doris Gunville, Deloris Defender, Shirley LaFountaine and Susan Allery; brothers, Larry Gunville and George Gunville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Sylvester Laducer and brother, Randy Gunville.
Arrangements were with Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.
