Dorothy Poitra, age 86 of Dunseith, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026 at a Belcourt hospital. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at 10:00 am at the Eagle Heart Cultural Center in Dunseith.

Dorothy Frances Poitra, a daughter of Louis and Olgila (Delorme) Allery, was born on May 23, 1940 in Belcourt. ON April 25, 1960, she married Eugene “Snowflakes” Poitra. Dorothy worked as a nurses’ aide at the San Haven State Hospital and later, she worked at the Dunseith Day School. Eugene passed away on February 17, 2025.

She is survived by her sons Eugene Jr., and Duane Poitra (Cheryl (Cree) Poitra), and daughters Vickie Poitra (Minot) and Brenda Poitra-Cree (Minot); 17 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren

Arrangements were with Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.
