Dorothy Clark, age 96, of Valley City, ND (formerly of Bottineau) passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at SMP Health-St Raphael, Valley City. Services will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2026 at 11:00 am at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau. Burial will be at the Oak Creek Cemetery in Bottineau.
Dorothy Enid (Larshus) Clark was born January 30, 1930, to Henry and Nettie (Larson) Larshus. She was raised on the family farm in Cordelia Township. She attended Cordelia School for eight years, then Bottineau High School, graduating in 1948. She then graduated from the School of Forestry in 1949. Dorothy worked for Dr. W. Baird as a dental assistant until her marriage to Reuben Clark on June 11, 1953, at First Baptist Church, Bottineau.
Dorothy and Reuben purchased a farm in Valley Township. They raised three sons, Glenolin (Glen), Sheldon and Dale. Dorothy worked alongside Reuben on the farm. She had a large garden and enjoyed sewing clothes for her family. Dorothy was gifted with handiwork - embroidery, knitting and crochet. She taught classes for Norwegian Hardanger embroidery and was a self-taught painter. She decorated wedding cakes for many years. She made hundred of pounds of potatoes into lefse. She loved attending to her flower beds.
Dorothy worked for the Expanded Nutrition Program for Bottineau County in 1976. She also worked 10 years in the Bottineau Register of Deeds Office. She was a 4-H leader for eight years; taught Sunday School classes, sang in the choir, played piano and organ for services, and held many offices at First Baptist Church. She enjoyed volunteering at Good Samaritan and St. Andrews Hospital.
Dorothy and Reuben moved into Bottineau in 1993 after Reuben was diagnosed with ALS and could no longer farm. She took care of him up until his death in July 1998. Dorothy remained in her home in Bottineau until she moved into Oak Manor Apartments in May 2016. She entered SMP - St. Raphael in August 2025 and remained a resident there until her death.
Survivors include sons, Glen (Lori), Mandan, ND, Sheldon, Sioux Falls, SD, and Dale (Veda), Bottineau, ND; grandchildren, Amanda (Mark) Oster, Bismarck, ND, Steven (Cassy), New Salem, ND, Kailyn, West Fargo, ND, Stacie, Viborg, SD. Abigail (Joshua) Mindeman, West Fargo, ND, and four step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren, Thomas, Patrick, Dylan, Hunter, Natalie, Alexis, Allyn, Anthony, Austyn, Andrew, Zachary, and nine step-great grandchildren; siblings, Lloyd Larshus, Bottineau, ND, and Marvel Wheeler, Lakeville, MN; sister-in-law, Edna Peterson, Bismarck, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded by her husband, Reuben; parents, Henry and Nettie; infant son, Radford; siblings, Norman (Irene) Larshus, Rena (Ernie) Roland, and Leonard (Doris) Larshus; sister-in-law, Orlene Larshus; and brother-in-law, Manley Wheeler.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorials to Dakota College of Bottineau Scholarship fund, Bottineau County 4-H, or North Dakota Association of the Blind.
