Donald Rude, age 88 of Bottineau, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at a Bottineau nursing home.

Donald Rude, a son of Clarence and Helen (Thorson) Rude was born on June 7, 1938 in Bottineau. He was raised in Overly, ND where he attended school. He later attended school in Willow City. He married Doris Sveum of Rugby. They lived in Overly and Rugby before moving to Bottineau in 1968. Don worked at Hiway Mobile for several years before buying it and operating it for several years. He later worked at Theel’s in Bottineau for over 30 years before retiring.

Don enjoyed living at the lake in the summer, fishing, pontooning and spending time with the grandkids and great-grandkids. He also enjoyed downhill skiing, spending a number of winters skiing in the mountains of Montana.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Doris; children, Ginger (Bruce) Strand of Velva, Dion (Chantel) Rude of San Antonio and Tina (Carl) Olson of Bottineau; brothers, Tom (Jana) of Rugby, Rick of Overly, 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James, Carl and Robert; and sisters, Joann Gessner, Gen Bundy and Mary Bjornseth.
