Obituary

Dennis Raymond LaVallie, 70, of Dunseith, N.D. died at home following a short illness
on July 23. Dennis grew up on the family farm north of Dunseith. He attended school at
the Dunseith Indian Day School graduating from the Dunseith Public High School in
1970. He attended Hanson Mechanical Trade School in Fargo (N.D.) where he studied
welding. Dennis married Deborah Crasco in 1972. They were married for 50 years.

Dennis worked at the missile sites near Langdon (N.D.) as an apprentice for the
Electricians Union, as an apprentice for the Boilermakers, Lodge 647 Minneapolis,
working on jobs in N.D., Minnesota and Montana until he became a full member of the
Plumbers and Pipefitters Union, Local 300 and worked many jobs, mostly on the power
plants in N.D. and MN. He was a gifted woodworker, making cedar chests and boxes, a
local artist and crafter. He loved berrypicking, birdwatching, and hunting and fishing.
Dennis was the son of John L. and Cecelia LaFountain LaVallie, who preceded him in
death, as well as sister, Rose Nadeau (Elmer) and brothers Gilbert (Beverly), Andrew
(Carol) and Albert (Ramona) LaVallie. He is survived by wife, Deborah, sons; Dennis,
Bismarck, N.D., and Daniel, Dunseith, N.D., daughters,; Dawn LaVallie, Dunseith, N.D.,
and Sarah LaVallie (Thomas Cameron), Minneapolis, MN., and granddaughters; Jeneva
(Keenan Laducer) Belcourt, N.D., MacKenna (Isaiah LaFountain), and Savanna St.
Claire, Dunseith, N.D. and great granddaughter; Aurora Jade Laducer; brothers; Peter
(Darlene) Belcourt, N.D., Earl (Debbie) Center, N.D., Dallas and Leo LaVallie, Dunseith;
sisters; Ida Nadeau (Leo) and Beverly Anderson (Gene) Dunseith, and many nieces
and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on August 8th at 11:00 am at Eagle Heart Community
Center Dunseith,(N.D). Visitation will be at 10:00 am. Burial will be at St. Louis
Cemetery. A feast will be held afterward. Arrangements were made by Nero Funeral
Home, Bottineau,(N.D).

accompaniment for the beautiful fiddle music, and Susie Decoteau who manages the
kitchen and food for many families in the tribal community, And last but not least to Earl
(Mickey) LaVallie, Master of Ceremonies and eulogist, a big thanks!
