Dennis Dean Herrmann was born June 6, 1940 in Lake Benton, Minnesota to Harry and Rose (Rutzen) Herrmann. Dennis grew up in Lincoln County in Minnesota and started school in a one-room country school northwest of Lake Benton and attended various schools because of the family moving onto various farmsteads. He graduated from Canby Minnesota High School in 1958.
He farmed with his dad for about 2 years. Then he moved to the Chamberlain, South Dakota area working for a cattle and farming operation, then going into house construction for a firm there.
In January 1959 he dedicated his life to Jehovah as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. He served as an auxiliary pioneer several times, as well as in different positions with various congregations of Jehovah's Witnesses in South and North Dakota.
He met Betty Jean Wilson in 1963 at a convention of Jehovah's Witnesses at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. They married June 27, 1964 at Garrison, ND.
This marriage produced 4 children: 2 daughters, Anita Dawn, Tanya Kaye; 2 sons, LaMoyne Dean, DelRay Kyle.
They lived in the central ND area, eventually settling in Gardena, ND and moved to Bottineau, ND in 2010.
Betty's health deteriorated until she died April 5, 2014 of pulmonary fibrosis.
He did many things in his lifetime – farmed, building houses, mechanic, heat plant operator and supervisor of buildings and grounds at Bottineau College. Dennis and Betty owned and operated BDL Flooring Installation.
His life highlights are his years of serving Jehovah and his marriage to Betty Jean.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, his parents and 8 brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his 4 children and 6 grandchildren.
