Delnora (Johnson) Berentson, age 97 of Newburg, passed on Sunday, July 4, 2021, at a Minot nursing home. Her funeral will be held on Friday, July 9, at Dovre Lutheran Church in Newburg. A visitation will be held at 10 am, and the service will begin at 11 am. Burial will be at the Dovre Lutheran Cemetery in Newburg.

A proud daughter of Bottineau County, Delnora spent much of her life raising her family and enjoying life on the family farm in Newburg. She was a loving mother and grandmother, who doted on all of the children in her life (even when they were no longer children!). A thoughtful and caring friend, she would spend time nearly every day calling and writing letters to those she loved. In 97 years, she never forgot a friend or family member's birthday or anniversary.

A basketball player in her youth, Delnora was a fixture at Newburg Eagles girls' basketball games for much of her life, and instilled a passion for sports in her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking for loved ones, caring for her many pets on the farm, and making lefse with her friends every Christmas.

Preceded in death by her husband, Bennie, and two sons, Byrnel and Daryl. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Carol; grandson, Beau and wife, Amy; step-grandchildren, Julie, Michael, and Stephen; great grandchildren, Benjamin and William; and many other family members and friends.
