Della Baker, age 83 of Rugby, formerly of Westhope, died Saturday, October 17, 2020 at a Bottineau nursing home. A private service will be held. Visitation will be on Thursday, October 22, 2020 from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Westhope. Burial will be at the IOOF Cemetery at Cando.
Della Guro (Omlie) Baker, a daughter of Evend and Nina (Johnson) Omlie was born on June 5, 1937 at Fordville, ND She was raised in Minneapolis and later Hansboro, ND. On June 5, 1953, she married George "Buddy" Baker at Rolla. She was an "Avon Lady" for 50 years. She worked various jobs through the years. She mostly enjoyed working in the hardware business. Della and George also lived in Washington state, Minnesota and Colorado. She enjoyed time with her family the most. George passed away on May 19, 2010.
She is survived by her daughters, Connie (Kevin) Schroeder of Westhope, Cheryl (Mike) Harmel of Rugby, Brenda Willis of Fort Lupton, CO; sons, Gordon (Bernadette) Baker of Belcourt, Steve (Debbie) Baker of Mylo, ND, LeRoy (Beverly) Baker of Ft Lupton, CO and Donald Baker of Dacono, CO; 22 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; aunts, Edna Rosenberger of Tuscan, AZ, Chloe Santos of Sacramento, CA and Sally Cornelius of Washington; uncle, Frank Johnson of Memphis, TN and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband and parents, Della was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kristie Lynn Harmel; her beloved brother, Alfred; and son-in-law, Dave Carroll.
Arrangements were with Nero Funeral Home in Westhope. Friends may sign the online register book at www.nerofuneralhome.net.
