Obituary

DeElla Bjornseth, age 98 of Bottineau, passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at a Minot hospital. A private funeral will be held.  Visitation will be Friday, November 25, 2022 from 1:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.

DeElla Mae Bjornseth, the daughter of Herman J. and Clara Mae (Johnson) Bollinger, was born on January 10, 1924 in Saskatchewan, Canada.  At the age of three, she moved with her family to Souris, ND.  DeElla graduated from Souris High School and then attended the Bottineau School of Forestry.  On October 3, 1943, she married Clarence O. Bjornseth at the First Lutheran Church in Minot.  They made their home in Bottineau and DeElla worked at the Charnholm Department Store.  Clarence passed away on July 13, 2009.

DeElla was a founding member of the Modern Homemakers and was an active member of the First Lutheran Church in Bottineau.  She enjoyed baking, cooking and many crafts such as needlework, quilting, china painting, and making her grandchildren and great-grandchildren Christmas stockings.  DeElla also enjoyed outdoor activities such as hiking, skating, water skiing and cross country skiing.

She is survived by her 2 daughters, Carol (Carl) Wall of Edina, MN and Connie (Orlando) Gorder of Bottineau; sister, Lorraine Swanson of Winter Garden, FL; grandchildren, Stephanie (Steve) Smith, Kathryn (Terry) Sandven, Jon (Angela) Gorder and Kristina (Tejas) Patel; great-grandchildren, Sam, Jacob, Henry and Louis Smith, George, Edward and Charles Sandven and Kaia and Avi Patel; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Arthur and Emma Bjornseth; sister and brother-in-law Arloween and Archie Bigwood; brother-in-law, Bill Swanson and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Myrtle and John Nickelson and Evelyn and Armand Hall.

Arrangements were with Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.  Friends may sign the online register book at www.nerofuneralhome.net .
