Darci Wittmayer, age 56 of Bottineau, passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at a Minot hospital. Her funeral was held on Friday, August 7, 2026 at 2:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau. Burial will be at the Oak Creek Cemetery in Bottineau. Lunch will be held at the Willow City Senior Citizens after the service. Darci Lyn Wittmayer was born to Sandra (Lasher) and Lloyd Gordon Wittmayer on May 25th, 1970, in Grafton, North Dakota. She began her schooling in Golva, ND, later attending school in Beach, ND, where she graduated in 1988. During her time in Beach, she met her best and lifelong friend, Amy, who sings in her honor today.

Darci worked as a nanny in both Chicago and Jacksonville, Florida. She eventually returned to Bottineau, ND, where she made her home. She attended Travel Agency School in Billings, Montana, worked for MTI for many years, and later ran her own home daycare.

Darci raised her two daughters largely on her own. In her later years, she also cared for her father, who suffers from memory loss. She was known for her hard work, kindness, and her ability to forgive quickly.

Darci looked forward to traveling in retirement. She and her daughters enjoyed many vacations with her mother and Don, visiting Arizona, Mexico, Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe, and Florida.

She loved the holidays and took pride in decorating her home beautifully, both inside and out. Darci fought a short battle with cancer and spent the last two months of her life with her mom and her niece, Janelle in Willow City.

Family meant everything to Darci. She adored her five grandchildren and cherished attending Azia’s college concerts, including her recent graduation.

Darci is survived by her daughters; Victoria and Azia; grandchildren, Desmond, Amari, Jacobi, Makia, and Iniayah; her mom and dad; siblings, Corey (Danielle) of Kensington, Maryland; Bryce (Harmony) of Las Vegas; Brandi (Jeremy) of Flom, Willow City; numerous nieces and nephews; Aunt Rhonda of Willow City and Aunt Connie (Jeff) Kahn of New Mexico; sisters-in-law Jennifer of Billings, MO and Cindy (John) Erdman of Willow City; and Don’s sons, Matthew (Elizabeth) of White Bear Lake, MN, and Aaron (Jynette) of Minot

She was preceded in death by her brother Lloyd Wendell; grandparents, Ruby and Willard Lasher, Ruby and Lloyd Wittmayer; her special great‑grandmother Neubauer.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated and supported Darci during her final months. Special thanks to Tracey Hall for organizing the lunch and to Pastor Cole for the service. Thank you to Amy Sweeney and Jason Wittmayer for providing music in Darci’s honor.
