Daniel Mongeon, age 65 of Rolette, died Thursday, September 24, 2020 at a Minot hospital surrounded by his family.  Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at 10:00 am at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rolette.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the church.

Daniel was born on February 24, 1955 in Rolla to Ernest and Pearl (Breslin) Mongeon.  He was raised on the family farm and graduated from Rolette High School in 1973.  After graduating, he drove bus for Rolette school and worked many years at Harlow Bus Service.  He also continued the family farming tradition on the family farmstead with his brother, David.  Daniel was united in marriage to Mary Hasenwinkel on October 17, 1981 in Gardena.  They spent the next 39 years together making their home on the family farmstead, where they raised their 3 children, Jared, Kayla and Eric.  Overtime, Daniel raised dairy and beef cattle, pigs and chickens.  In addition to farming, he had his A1 Spraying business for 20 years.  He continued farming until 2002.

Daniel was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rolette.  He was a past member of the Maryville Township Board for many years.  He served on the Rolette School Board for 6 years.  He was a board member of the Rural Rolette Fire Department. Daniel and Mary enjoyed camping in the summers with their children.  He was proud of the family farmstead.  It was his pride and joy.  He enjoyed ice fishing with his family and friends.  He especially enjoyed deer hunting in the fall with the "Broke 8" hunting party.  Everyone in the hunting party had a nickname and his was "Comelate".  Another thing he was proud of was being a grandpa to his grandson Hudson.  He enjoyed seeing how much Hudson enjoys the family farm like he did!

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 39 years, Mary; children, Jared (Heather) of Minot, Kayla (Mike) of Avondale, AZ and Eric (Chelsea) of Rolette; grandson, Hudson; brother, David (Vickie) of Grafton, sisters, Diane of Oregon, Connie (Gale) of Towner and Corinne of Surrey and several nieces and nephews.

Daniel was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers-in-law.
