ale Rice, age 81 of Westhope, died Thursday at a Mohall nursing home. His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 pm at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Westhope. Visitation will be Monday from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Westhope. Burial will be at the Landa Cemetery.
Dale Rice, a son of Emmard and Stella (Tolstad) Rice, was born on January 24, 1937 at Landa. He was raised there and graduated from Landa High School in 1955. On December 6, 1958, he married JoAnn Kirk at Maxbass. They made there home in Landa and Dale worked as truck driver. They moved to Minot in 1960 and in 1961 they moved to Ceres, CA. Dale worked as a coater mechanic at the Continental Can Company and later Carnation. He retired in 1999 and they moved back to Westhope.
Dale enjoyed flying his air coupe and later radio controlled airplanes. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding 4 wheeler and motorcycle and going on cruises with JoAnn.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnn of Westhope; sons, LeVern Dale (Andi) Rice of Glenburn and Leroy Alan (Jennifer Goltz) Rice of Westhope; daughters, Lora Ann (Jay) Schullerts of Atwater, CA and LeAnn Jo (Kenny) Black of Westhope; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sisters, Myrna (Kenny) Smith of Antioch, CA, Sharon Kamrud of Antioch, CA and Valerie (Bill) Dahl of Watsonville, CA and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and several aunts and uncles.
Arrangements were with Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau. Friends may sign the online register book at www.nerofuneralhome.net.
