Curtis Belgarde, age 61 of Dunseith, passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at a Fargo hospital with his sister, Betti Jean by his side. His funeral will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am at the Jesus Name Church in Dunseith.  His wake will begin on Friday at noon at the church.  Burial will be at the Belgarde Family Cemetery.

Curtis Arnold Belgarde, a son of Roy and Margaret (St. Claire) Belgarde, was bon on October 19, 1962 in Belcourt.  He attended school in Dunseith and later served in the US Army.  He married Ruth Houle on December 4, 1992.  Ruth passed away on August 14, 2010.

Curtis was a member of the of the Jesus Name Church in Dunseith.  He was a mechanic and loved to work on vehicles.  He enjoyed going to the casino.  When he was younger he liked to play basketball and ride horse.  He loved spending time with his grandchildren.  He loved his babies with all his heart.  He loved to drive around and visit family.  He was always checking in on everyone.

He is survived by his son, Kiley St. Claire; daughters, Brandi Belgarde, Shawn Belgarde and Natasha Aiken; grandchildren, Kiley Jr, Kingston, Destiny, Curtis, Tyson, Lucas, Abigail, Harper, Catelaya, Paisley, Mary Ann, Neysa, Ethyan and Tristen; siblings, Betti Jean (Lawrence) Azure, David (Peggy) Belgarde, Cathy Thiefoe and Gary Belgarde; sister-in-law, Velda Belgarde; God child, Carly Houle; uncles, Lyle, Alvin and Darwin Belgarde; aunts, Rose Mary Bruce, Norma Belgarde and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceeded in death by his wife, Ruth; parent, Roy and Margaret Belgarde; paternal grandparents, Elsina Belgarde and Frank and Rose Belgarde; maternal grandparents, Robert and Alice St. Claire; sisters Beverly Parisien, Sharon Cree, Roxanne Thiefoe, Doris Dubois; brothers, LeRoy Belgarde Sr, Pastor Larry Belgarde, Gary Belgarde, Ronald Belgarde Sr, brothers-in-law, James Parisien, Melvin Cree Sr, Verlin Dubois; nieces, Alicia Beston, Tanya Thiefoe, Britta Jean Short; great nephews, Langston Beston; nephews, Jeff LaRocque and Jawon Christopher; and great-niece Jaylynn Belgarde.

He will be dearly missed by family and friends.  A meal will follow the service and the Dunseith City Hall.
